4. Organism 4: Anisonema
(See below video)

Domain: Eukaryota
Kingdom: Protozoa
Phylum: Euglenozoa
Genus: Anisonema
Trait:
  • 15-40mm size
  • Unicellular
  • Presence of flagella for swimming (in video, flagella is barely seen)
Reference:

General Comments/Observations
We watched organism 4, the Anisonema swim around in the sample. Organisms 1-3, were stationary on the slide. Organism 2, the daphnia was a little squished by the slide, which contributed a little to it being flattened and dispersed in appearance.

  1. Your fourth organism is pretty neat, I don't think I saw any of those in my slide. Do you guys have any idea what the brown tint substance is? I wonder if it hindered the movement at all.

  2. I wonder what that brown substance is too because I had that on my slide as well. It really blocked my view of the Daphnia. Could it be just a mesh of different organisms?

  4. I think its cool how clear the chain of sphere shaped cells in your first organism are very easy to see. Was this organism completely green? Or is it just the picture that makes the second half of it look as if the cells fade to a clear transparent color? I also like how you included a video so that we can see the 4th organism swim around!

  5. The fourth organism, we had that in our water as well but we didnt include it because we ran out of patients to actually get footage of it, it was really fast. We had that clear brown substance as well, it might be just water mold or something like that.
